About Our School
In our school we have a full time Nursery with morning and afternoon sessions, a P1-3 class, a P4-5 and a P6-7 class. There are currently 19 children in the Nursery and 50 children in the school.
In addition to the classrooms, the school has a large hall with a raised stage which is used for concerts, P.E., drama activities and we hope to develop this further to accommodate some filming work. Attached is the kitchen which serves hot and cold lunches daily. The hall is also used by the local mother and toddlers group. In the corridor we are developing a library area. The school has a large tarmac playground on the south side. To the west we have a play area and large grass pitch. The pupils carry out gardening activities using two raised vegetable beds, a flower bed and a composting area. We have recently erected a greenhouse and this year hope to grow many more edible plants.
Our nursery is housed in a separate building which has its own garden with seating and play equipment. Children can use the outside space independently using our new door and ramp access.
In order to deliver a curriculum that is fit for 21st Century learning, technologies play a large part in the children’s learning at Drumblade School. The school has wireless internet and the children all have access to P.C.’s, laptops and iPads.
There are a often enterprise opportunities that the pupils can be involved in. This helps ‘Developing the Young Workforce’, embedding a variety of skills giving real purpose to their learning.
The children are working in three focus groups Pupil Council/Rights Respecting Schools, Digital Leaders, Eco Group. The groups meet once a month with parents coming in to help the pupils complete the tasks they have set on their action plans. The children are fully involved in developing their school environment and learning culture.
