About Our School

Drumblade Primary School is a non-denominational school with a role of 55 pupils and 13 children in Nursery. The school serves the rural catchment area of Drumblade and surrounding villages. Many of the children travel to and from school by minibus or car. The nursery has children that may go to Drumblade, Forgue or Largue Schools.

We currently have three primary classes: P1 – 3, P4/5 and P6/7.  Our Nursery school is at capacity and from the start of this session has moved to an 1140 hours model which means that each of our children is entitled to 6 hours a day in nursery.  However due to COVID are offering 900 hours presently (Oct. 2020), with an aim to build back to 1140 when the circumstances permit.  Our school staff team consists of an acting head teacher with a teaching commitment, 1 part-time teacher that shares a class with the head teacher, 2 full time teachers and 2 part time PSAs. In the nursery there is an early years senior practitioner, an early years lead practitioner and 3 part time practitioners.

Specialist teachers help with the delivery of Art and Design, and Music. The school also works closely with a range of other support agencies and volunteers in order to provide the best possible experience for children with additional support needs.

The school is supported by 1 school administrator, 1 receptionist/clerical assistant, 2 kitchen staff, 1 cleaner and a part time janitor.

On leaving Drumblade Primary School the pupils transfer to The Gordon Schools, Huntly. Drumblade School is part of the Huntly Community Schools’ Network and works closely with the other 7 schools in the Network.

Community links are a valued part of school life. The school has a very supportive Parent Council and associated subgroups. These groups support school improvement activities and raise additional funds to provide many extras for the pupils in the school.
